FIELD WORKS is a music collective with a fluid membership of experimental pop musicians from around the globe. Projects are rooted in participatory research - field recordings, interviews, visual documentation - where the world itself becomes a recording studio. The group gets its name from the sciences, using observation and experimentation to create the narrative elements of a new kind of place-based music. On this debut album, The National Road, original field recordings made along a single street in Indianapolis become a sprawling sonic landscape.
Featuring collaborations with Lali Puna, B. Fleischmann, Nick Zammuto, Lullatone, Daring Ear, Player Piano, Forrest Lewinger, and Prototokyo. Gatefold Vinyl LP includes a 28-page liner note book richly illustrated by Nathaniel Russell.
